چکیده
The aim of the study was to determine the optimum conditions for brown pigment formation by Kluyveromyces marxianus and Streptomyces chibaensis. Pigment formation was followed during the time course experiment in medium contains 20 g/l D-xylose as carbon source, 12 g/l of a mixture of peptone and yeast extract as a nitrogen source at pH 5.0 when incubated at 32°C, the production of pigment reached approximately its maximum. From the FTIR spectrum analysis it could be concluded that the pigment might be melanin, and the particles of the present pigment used image analysis system, were similar to particles of the synthetic melanin.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the application of natural preservatives as an alternative to chemical preservatives in the production of Doogh. In order to carry out the work, different concentrations (0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5, 3%) of Eucalyptus essential oil were employed to study the growth of Kluyveromyces marxianus in Doogh at 4 °C and 15°C within 9 days.</stro...
متن کاملIsolation and Characterization of Melanin Producing Pseudomonas stutzeri Strain UIS2 in the Presence of l-tyrosine and Survey of Biological Properties of Its Melanin
Background: Melanin is a negative charge hydrophobic complex pigment. Melanin is produced naturally in bacteria to protect them against UV, free radicals and environmental stresses. Pigment production in bacteria has more advantages than other biosources due to its rapid growth, higher efficiency and easier extraction. The aim of this study was the isolation, biochemical and molecular identific...
متن کاملIsolation, Identification and Antioxidant Activity of Melanin Pigment from Actinomycete (Streptomyces Species) Isolated from Garden Soil, Nagpur District, India
Three strains among 20 Streptomyces isolates produce a diffusible dark brown pigment on both peptone-yeast extract agar and Streptomyces isolation agar. They also showed the positive reaction towards L-tyrosine substrates. The pigment has been referred to be dark brown water soluble pigment, as melanin. The present study reports antioxidant activity of melanin pigment from Actinomycete (Strepto...
